Content Producer – Writing Text and SEO

An important task for me as a content creator, is to write texts for the web, online newspaper, blog and social media.

In the role as a content producer I write articles, blog posts, product reviews, portrait interviews, newsletters, presentations, microtexts and posts for social media. Ensuring relevance for different readers, customer or user groups means that I also familiarize myself with varied topics.

Besides various webpage visitors, I also optimize the texts for search engines (SEO). And publishes and distributes the content in relevant channels – where the user group “stays”.

The written language is used to convey information, thoughts or ideas to one or more recipients. Written communication has a wide reach and is durable, editable and documentable. It can take place in traditional media such as newspapers, letters and books. Or in digital media such as e-mail, website, blog or social media.

As a content producer, my primary focus is writing texts for digital media. This includes, among other things, writing microtexts and texts for various websites, articles, blog posts, portrait interviews, product reviews, presentations, newsletters and posts for social media.

To ensure relevance for different readers, customer or user groups, I delve into varied topics. I master formal and informal writing style, and translate shorter texts to/from English.

And as a freelance journalist for BY Follo, I contribute in creating a local online newspaper for residents and businesses in the Follo region, just outside Norway’s capital Oslo.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

To make sure user groups find my texts when searching information online, the content must be indexed and visible in the search engines. If the content gets a higher position in the search result (SERP), it will be visible to more potential webpage users. And thus increase traffic to the website.

As a content producer, I tailor the text to the target audience. And optimize it for search engines (SEO). This includes using keywords or search phrases in the text, without reducing the readability or usability. Other elements that affect the content’s ranking are: Text length, SEO title, meta description, length of sentences and paragraphs, clear language, active vs passive form, etc.

The search engines match relevant content with words and phrases people actually write when searching for information online. Another task for a content producer is to analyze what keywords and phrases are used within the topic in question. And make sure to include those keywords in the content that answers the user question.
